The French Embassy is once again taking part in the Malta Book Festival, alongside the Alliance française Malte-Méditerranée and Lireka, an online bookstore that offer French books with free delivery worlwide.
At the French Corner, you will find books from the new French literary season as well as second-hand books at free prices (donations).
In addition, this year we are inviting painter and illustrator Sophie Guinzbourg and children’s author Chloe Gallien
Reading and writing poetry is a wonderful way to better understand the world around us. It encourages us to notice details in daily life that we might otherwise overlook and to highlight others in new ways. Poetry is all around us, but uncovering it requires the right tools.
This workshop, led by author Chloé Gallien, will be a chance to explore the art of poetry through readings and the creation of simple poems about Malta, together with the students. ✍️
Sophie and Chloe will also be signing their new children’s book that they have written and drawn togethe
About our guest
Chloé Gallien
Is also from Nancy, and writes stories and fables for children, as well as poems for everyone. Her poems have been published in poetry collections and magazines, and have won several awards. Chloé particularly enjoys collaborative projects with other artists, and has recently contributed to a bilingual illustrated volume of French poems written in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
Sophie Guinzbourg
A painter and illustrator from Nancy, will be taking part in the illustration exhibition organised by the Maltese National Book Council on the festival site. Exhibited in France and abroad, Sophie Guinzbourg paints moments of everyday life, including famous café and bistro scenes that are typically French. Sophie has also produced engravings, festival posters, a large mosaic and a stained glass window.
Sophie Guinzbourg has also illustrated three children’s books, created with her long-time friend Chloé Gallien: ‘Lapinoudoudou et les tissus magiques’, ‘Baba, le petit chat masqué’ and ‘Raconte encore, Alice!
🎬 To celebrate European Arthouse Cinema Day, the French Embassy and the Alliance Française are thrilled to present a special screening of the film “De Gaulle”.
1940. De Gaulle opposes Pétain because he wants to continue the military offensive. In Colombey, his wife Yvonne is forced to leave. The family knows the routes of the exodus to Brittany. As the armistice looms, de Gaulle chooses to leave for London, where Churchill, who becomes an ally, allows him to speak to the BBC on 18 June. Yvonne and Charles eventually found themselves, after a long journey, in the London capital.

This year marks the fourth edition of the EUNIC Film Festival in Malta. Across six days, the film festival shows 14 screenings of European films, celebrating diversity in all its forms.
In partnership with the EUNIC Cluster in Malta and Spazju Kreattiv Cinema, the Alliance française Malte-Méditerranée will present the French film : « Three nights a week ».

This diploma is valid for life and can be used whether you want to study in France, work in a French-speaking environment or simply improve your language skills.
The TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français) and TEF (Test d’Évaluation de Français) are tests that give you a score. They can be used to prove your level of French for university admission, a job application, immigration to Canada/Quebec or simply for personal satisfaction.
Les Diplômes de Français Professionnel (DFP) are designed to certify your competence in French in specific professional contexts such as business, law, health and tourism. With a DFP certification, you demonstrate your linguistic expertise in your field, strengthening your professional profile and increasing your career opportunities in a French-speaking environment.
