Description

1) DJO

Laura Henno – 2018
Duration – 13:00

In the Highlands of Mayotte, a space of secrecy, magic, and escape, men and dogs share a filial, almost fusion-like bond, a companionship between species that share the same territory of transformation and autonomy. Smogi has a special relationship with dogs, but also with the power of the elements, nature, and the mischievous spirits that inhabit it (the djinns). Djo encounters different belief systems in a wild syncretism, where the call to Muslim prayer also marks the moment of reunion with the animist and impure forces of the forest.

2) Bonnarien

Adiel Goliot – 2023
Duration – 20:35

Mauricette Bonnarien works as a longshorewoman at the port in French Guiana. The rest of the time, she performs slam poetry. Deeply self-conscious about her last name, which was imposed on her ancestor during the abolition of slavery, she fights to complete a process to change her name. It is time to make her new surname heard by those around her.

3) Kabri i manz salad

Nicola Séry – 2023
Duration – 20:21

A man meets his father for the first time. One might imagine that they will make up for lost time and that the son will learn everything about his past. But he’s in for a few surprises…

4) Timoun aw

Nelson Foix – 2020
Duration – 28:00

While being chased, Chris discovers a baby on his doorstep who seems to be meant for him. Doubting his paternity, he embarks on a search for the child’s mother.
