Terms and conditions

OUR CLASSES
Classes comprise a maximum of 15 students. Classes with fewer than 3 applicants might not open. In the case where there is a great demand for a particular course, the AFMM might have to divide the students into 2 classes in order to obtain an equal number of students.

TEXTBOOKS / EXAMINATION FEES
Unless otherwise indicated on the course’s brochure, textbooks and/or examination fees are not included in the course fees.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
Should there be insufficient applicants to a particular course, the course might be cancelled and fees fully refunded. Should a student wish to cancel a registration before the course is due to start, fees will be refunded less a €15 administration fee. The AFMM regrets that there will be no refunds for classes not attended or for the cancellation of a course by a student once the course has begun. Course fees are non-transferable.

Given the covid-19 situation, courses might be held either online or at the AFMM’s premises. Decisions will be taken at the discretion of the AFMM, depending on the government’s recommendations. As the context is independent from the AFMM’s control, no refund will be possible.

MEMBERSHIP FEE
Students applying for any course may opt to become a Member by paying a membership fee of €20 (€25 – Family rate). Membership is valid for one year and gives its members a reduction on AFMM courses, exams and activities. The Mediathèque annual subscription fee is €10 and gives its members access to AFMM physical library as well as to Culturethèque, the French online multimedia library of the Institut Français.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

In keeping our membership records, personal data is inevitably kept about our members. The processing of such data is necessary in order to offer a better service and to keep track of our mutual obligations. We may also use it to ensure that we comply with Maltese law, or to send you further information about our courses and services. We do not share your details with third parties other than as necessary to perform our contract with you.

By enrolling you are giving the AFMM consent to: store and maintain your contact details which may include email address, postal address, contact telephone and mobile number. From time to time contact you via email, post or telephone with opportunities, news and events updates.

IMAGE RIGHTS
Use photographs taken during courses and/or activities to illustrate its promotional material. If a student/member wishes that his/her photo should not appear in this material, they should write to the AFMM indicating so. These photos have no commercial or contractual value.

Privacy Policies

Personal data - What personal data we collect and why we collect it

To better handle your request, the Organisationand its brands may collect personal data provided on the Site. By continuing to browse our Site and/or by contacting our teams, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data for the purposes set forth in our Privacy Policy, and which may be transmitted to our entities, brands and partners.

We collect personal data from users and site visitors. This may include personal data, such as name, email address, personal account preferences; transactional data, such as purchase information; and technical data, such as information about cookies.Contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third party embeds.

In accordance with the applicable regulations, you can lodge a claim with the IDPC.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

When you submit a contact form, we keep the data for an undetermined contact form submissions for an indefinite period for customer service purposes. We do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Who we share your data with

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. We collect information about you during the checkout process on our store.

What we collect and store

While you visit our site, we’ll track:

Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
Location, IP address and browser type: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping
Shipping address: we’ll ask you to enter this so we can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order!

We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site.

If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for XXX years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses.

We will also store comments or reviews, if you choose to leave them.

Who on our team has access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us.

Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.

What we share with others

We share information with third parties who help us provide our orders and store services to you : Stripe, our payment gateway.

The Site reserves the right to exploit all intellectual property present on the site: Texts, photographs, videos, logos, files, brands, visuals, data, etc… in accordance with the legislation in force.

The Site and its content are the exclusive property of Alliance Française de Malte-Méditerranée. The user or any visitor has no right to ownership of the elements on the site. Consequently, any attempt of reproduction, plagiarism, duplication, modification, transmission, diffusion, storage or exploitation that it is either integral or partial of the pages or other elements constituting the Site, by any process or support whatsoever, is forbidden. Without permission from the editor, any reproduction or representation constitutes an infringement and incurs legal prosecution.

Finally, the Site reserves the entirety of its intellectual property rights related to the services it offers. The use of the services does not grant you ownership of our services, and does not grant you ownership of the content and the information available through our services.
