The Cinema of Patrice Leconte
As the peak event of this year’s French Film Days and the European Film Festival, we will be receiving Mr. Patrice Leconte, renowned French director and scriptwriter, for an unique Masterclass.
Masterclass by Patrice Leconte
P. Leconte directed more than 30 films including the notable trilogy French Fried Vacation (1978) (Les bronzés), starring famous French actors. His films have featured many French stars such as Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo in Une chance sur deux, Johnny Hallyday in L’Homme du train, Vanessa Paradis in La Fille sur le pont. Apart from being an impressive filmmaker, directing and writing comedies, dramas and short films, but also writing plays, comics and novels, Patrice Leconte is definitely a multifaceted artist. His renown is now international thanks to his awards and nominations at the Cesar, the Oscars, and many other film festivals.
The venue of Mr. Leconte to Malta is part of the European Film Festival organised by EUNIC Malta Cluster.
On the 11th of November, from 11.00 to 12.00 am, Patrice Leconte will be holding a Masterclass focusing on the analysis of a scene from one of his films. Through this exercise, the director will explain the choices made when writing the film, creating the mise-en-scène, framing the action, collaborating with the production designer and the cinematographer, and then when working in the editing room and on the soundtrack. What makes a Patrice Leconte movie so unique? This is the mystery this masterclass will try to uncover. This unique event will be taking place at the Spazju Kreattiv Cinema.

Exclusive Screening
On the 11th of November, we will be screening L’Homme du Train (The Man on the Train) starring Jean Rochefort and famous singer Johnny Hallyday at the Spazju Kreattiv Cinema. This event will be preceeded by the projection of the short film entitled Johnny Johnny, about a doppelganger of the famous french rockstar and directed by Angelique Muller. At the end of the screening, you will be able to ask all your questions to both directors.
Thursday 11th of November – 7:30pm. In French with English subtitles.

Final event
Lastly, on the 14th of November we will be screening French Fried vacation 2 (Les bronzés font du ski) as part of the European Arthouse Cinema Day. Meet us at the Sapzju Kreattiv Cinema, once again!
